The construction of musical instruments is a special profession that needs years of apprenticeship, training and practice. Some instruments like grand pianos and electric guitars have very complex forms and only well-trained and adept experts can create them so that they can produce that perfect tone and pitch. The manufacturers of instruments vary depending on the family of instruments they produce. Luthiers, for example, specialise on stringed instruments. Just as music has evolved throughout time, musical instruments and their construction has also changed over time. This change is very evident in the sound they produce, which is quite different from their predecessors. The trends in music and instruments may have changed, but ultimately, they are still the same in essence and purpose.
